The Space Launch System (SLS) is NASA's new super heavy-lift expendable launch vehicle. It replaces the Space Shuttle program and is part of NASA's deep space exploration plans, which includes a crewed mission to Mars. sometime in the 2030's.
Exploration Mission 1 was an unmanned test of the SLS and NASA's Orion spacecraft between November 16 and December 10, 2022.
It's scheduled second launch is currently scheduled for April 2026., and during that flight a crew of 4 astronauts are schduled to fly around the Moon and return to Earth, 3 American and one Canadian astronaut, Jeremy Hansen, who will be the first non-American to fly to the Moon.
